For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1951 Parker 51 Aerometric Fountain Pen & Pencil Set in the Navy Grey Color with frosty Lustraloy Caps. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in great writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, and hood. Replaced the old glass-ply sac with a new, properly sized one. I have hand-cleaned the cap and arrow clip, clutch ring, 14K Parker nib, and the Aerometric sac protector. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and hood to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker 51 is demi size and measures 5 1/8" capped and 5 5/8" posted. The Pencil measures 5" inches in total length. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel to either the fountain pen or pencil.
This fountain pen cap, barrel, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap has the Feather Arrow Clip that displays no wear/brassing. The caps are a Lustraloy type with no scratching, denting, or wear with a frosty Lustraloy finish on both. The caps have no type with no scratching, denting, or wear with a beautiful bright gold-filled color on both caps. The cap is clearly stamped with, "PARKER" on the lip of the cap, and the opposite side is "MADE IN U.S.A.". The barrel is stamped with, "Made in U.S.A. with date code 51 (for 1951) in the 4th Quarter". I have tested the Aerometric filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 6 to 7 presses.
The Parker NIB is 14K and writes with an extra-fine to fine line. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .62mm when measured with digital calipers. In the writing sample provided, the extra-fine line measures .33mm and will vary up to a fine .48mm line when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. The nib writes with a smooth, semi-wet line.
This Parker 51 set comes with a box. The box has seen better days but nonetheless, it comes with the set.
The Parker Aerometric Pencil is a Cap-activated type. Push down on the cap and the lead will propel outward. The pencil eraser has never been used. The pencil comes with several sticks of lead.
The Navy Grey color on these Parker 51s is fantastic when the Lustraloy caps are frosty, like these. This Parker 51 is gorgeous and the restoration came out superb. I would consider this Parker to be in Mint Condition. It is certainly ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection!
